Challenges to the innovation
KYC has challenged on the application of our technology to the field of space by collaborating with partners. We proposed “Research on labor saving by automation of forestry machine” jointly with Kumagai Gumi Co., Ltd., Sumitomo Forestry Co.,Ltd. and Kato Works Co.,Ltd. for the research contest on “JAXA* space exploration innovation hub”. After approval by JAXA, we made common research contract with them in 2018.
The purpose of the research in “JAXA space exploration innovation hub” is not specified and limited to space exploration, but the research result shall be utilized for both of space exploration and creation of feasible technology for the business on earth.
*JAXA: Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency
Summary of joint research
We targeted to create full automated collection system of materials with wire and create business of the automated collection systems of lumber at forest industry on the earth by combining “Forestry machine technology” of Sumitomo Forestry Co.,Ltd., “ Full automation construction technology” by Kumagai Gumi Co., Ltd., “Winch technology of wheel crane” by Kato Works Co.,Ltd. and our “Engineering technology of plant and scaffolding”. At the same time, we targeted to research and develop conveying system to carry and install structure or materials in space.
Effect of collecting system by wire on moon
- - Power source can be centralized
- - The movement is not affected by the condition of surfaces of the ground
- - It can be utilized for digging the surface and construction of facilities
- - Positioning monitoring can be conducted by monitoring system
- - Continuous and stable conveying is feasible
